Tour Summary

Our fully customized whale watching vessels and our first-rate bilingual guides have made our tours the most popular whale watching excursions in Cabo San Lucas. Our whale watching crafts are designed for both speed and minimal disturbance of these amazing cetaceans. We equip our zodiacs with the most up-to-date whale-finding instruments in order to ensure that you see breathtaking Gray Whales on your excursion. You can view these gargantuan marine mammals up close from a vantage point close to the water's surface because of the low hull profile of our boats. Unlike some of the other whale watching tours from Cabo San Lucas, where you are packed into a huge motorized catamaran high above the surface, Ocean Riders brings you close to the action - you may even get splashed or sprayed by these massive animals. You could get an excellent view of these behemoths as they breach the surface, slap their tail, or even leap into the air in a dramatic display.

Annually, whales migrate from the cold waters of the Arctic down the Pacific coastline of North America to the temperate waters surrounding the Baja Peninsula. They travel south to court, mate, give birth and nurse in the warmer waters, only to return to the north in the spring. The whales arrive off the coast of Los Cabos in January and leave by the end of March.

Gray Whales are the most common variety of whales that you will spy on this tour, but you may also see massive Humpback Whales, who are prone to dramatic breaching and splashing displays. Other marine mammals that you may see include Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins and Sea Lions. Dolphins can often be seen frolicking in groups called pods. A multitude of Sea Lions can be spotted on the rocky shoreline near Land's End.

Gray Whales generally prefer to remain closer to shore than most other large whale species. Mothers have a tendency to stay in sheltered coves and bays while nursing their calves. Grays are especially unique compared to other kinds of whales because they are bottom-feeders, sifting through the sediment for tiny crustaceans.

Thanks to the professional guides! I was a bit worried about kayaking because I had never done it before, but the instructions were great and I had such a good time!
